“Be mine, sister salvation. Closer now, see the revelation.”
“Juke Joint Jezebel” by KMFDM
Eventually I’ll tap on a song that wasn’t released in the 1990s, but there were a few days during the week where angst levels needed angry synth beats to sooth them.
Enter this ditty.
If you know one song from KMFDM, it’s likely “Juke Joint Jezebel.” Lauded by some as the German industrial band’s greatest hit, the Gospel-like chorus blends perfectly with an incredibly angry guitar line throughout.
The teenage version of myself actually wore out two cassettes* of the album “Nihil,” which featured “Juke Joint Jezebel.” If you’ve heard this song before, it’s likely because of the soundtracks of “Mortal Kombat” or “Bad Boys.”
If you haven’t heard this song before, give the 340 seconds to change that status.
But don’t take my word for it, listen for yourself.
*-Hey, I grew up poor and cassettes were cheaper than CDs, especially when seeking out non-mainstream music.
